An undulating façade unfolds along California Avenue to create an iconic silhouette and a dynamic corner condition, while strategically enlarging residential units within. This architectural gesture reinterprets the traditional Chicago bay, extending outward toward the open expanse of Humboldt Park directly across the street.

By reaching toward the park, the façade frames distinctive north- and south-facing views along California Avenue, reinforcing a strong visual and spatial connection between the building’s edges and the surrounding urban conditions. The resulting form animates the public realm while firmly grounding the project within its neighborhood context.

Throughout the interior, Taíno symbols are thoughtfully incorporated to designate each floor, drawing meaningful connections to the surrounding Puerto Rican community and celebrating the site’s cultural heritage. Together, these elements reinforce a strong sense of place—reflecting identity, history, and community through architecture.
