Project Description
Xquina Cafe is a partnership-driven, commercial, and cultural amenity that aims to enhance the livelihood of Little Village community residents. Public and private capital will be invested to redevelop approximately 13 thousand square feet of commercial retail including a business incubator, co-working office, local cafe, and shared commercial kitchen.
The business incubator is designed to drive impact into the community by providing an open, accessible, and inclusive learning environment through programming and coaching that is both adaptable and culturally relevant. Xquina incubator will service current and emerging businesses, local workforce and artists, multimedia professionals, and local youth.
The mission to revitalize a corridor that is under pressure of both macro and micro economic forces requires a tangible investment to attract a mix of people to cultivate new ideas to expand community wealth. Impact investment in real estate by a trusted Latino-led organization provides a platform that can help solve economic and social equity issues in the community.
The project aims to provide access to resources for an estimated 40 new businesses a year. It will engage with the community to provide thousands of hours of programming to leverage the public and private goals of economic development.
