Urban Planning & Landscape
All existing trees of the boulevard would remain. The Parking issue would be addressed by carving new parking spaces into the ancillary lanes of the boulevard. As part of our proposal, the ancillary lanes would also be repaved with permeable pavers. This would help manage storm water while also defining an additional character to the street through texture and color which would further tie into the new park network
The project also included the schematic design of the beautification of The Illinois Centennial Monument at Logan Square. New landscaping and rich ground surfacing encourage public use and gathering. Angled pavement responds to the dramatic interruption of Milwaukee Avenue. Benches and level changes allow further seating and opportunities to enjoy the monument from different vantage points within the plaza.
